Kate and Gregson started their relationship the way many couples have in the technology age; with a keyboard. With time at a premium and many friends coupled up, Kate decided to take her cousin's advice and give online dating a try. Luckily for her, Gregson had already decided to blaze the trail of online dating with his friends and was just waiting for the right match. After a wink, a few messages, and some great phone conversations, they decided to meet in person. As Kate was new to the online aspect of dating, she was relieved when he picked a well-populated, well-lit, incredibly romantic location for their first meeting; Houlihan's. After a few drinks, total domination of bar trivia, and some laughs, they both knew this could be something special.
Fast-forward three years later to a stay-cation in Princeton where the two of them planned for a little relaxation before the holidays. Little did Kate know that Gregson had been plotting and scheming in the months leading up to the trip and planned to surprise her with a proposal. After a wine tasting at Old York Cellars, an activity that had become one of their favorite things to do, Gregson lead Kate out into the vineyard. Giving him a funny look since the grounds were wet and muddy from an earlier thunderstorm, Kate followed him down a small hill and into a row of vines.
Gregson admitted that he had a confession to make - he didn’t help plan the trip as a romantic getaway, but rather as a plan to propose. He dropped to one knee and asked Kate to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course she said yes (after confirming a few times that the proposal was not a joke and that he was serious) and they spent the rest of day sharing the good news and enjoying the weekend together!
I hope it shows how much fun I had photographing Kate & Gregson for their engagement session! From beginning to end their energy was so contagious and I just loved getting to know them as a couple. (their June wedding at Ryland Inn will be blogged so soon!)
