Six Questions in a Little White Dress with Miss April

Spring is officially here! And for the record, I could not be more thrilled. So to celebrate the season, my engaged friend Nicole and Event Planner Paige of Gilded Lily Events set out to find the perfect spot to capture the second edition of L&L's new series: Six Questions in a LWD (See the first ever post right here). First stop was Sickles Market where we checked out the rows and rows of gorgeous blooms for sale, and then we headed over to a serene walking trail with meandering streams and ponds. It was there that we asked Nicole...my Miss April...Six Questions in a Little White Dress! Keep reading for her insight on the craziness that is wedding planning...

Nicole is gettlng married in February of 2015 at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge in Warren, New Jersey.

1. Describe your upcoming wedding to us...big classy affair or small bohemian and intimate? Do you have a theme or just sticking to a certain color palette?

Well, when we made our initial list, it was almost at 250 guests (yikes!) so we've been trying to trim it down. We're having a cozy February wedding at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge, which is a rustic yet contemporary space that I loved from the moment I saw it. My favorite part? We're getting married on-site and our guests will enjoy hot chocolate and spiked cider during the ceremony! We're still figuring out the details, but right now I know one thing for sure: mason jars. Oh, and there will be LOTS of my favorite color, yellow.

2. Priorities! Where are you splurging for the big day and where are you reeling it in?

Our families enjoy a good party, so we'll probably splurge on the band, food and refreshments. My fiance and I both LOVE piano bars, so a band with a piano would be ideal. We'll probably reel it in with the invitations and since we're getting married in the off-season, our venue pricing was much more budget-friendly.

2. Being a bride today is much different than it was 20 years ago. What old traditions are you holding on to, and what new traditions are you making your own?

I would love to incorporate part of my mom's dress into my own wedding gown. That would mean a lot to me. My fiancé and I aren't very religious. Our ceremony will be short so we can get right to the celebrating!

3. Is your fiance very hands on or very hands off when it comes to planning? Both have their challenges! How are you dealing and what is most important to him on the big day?

He's mainly concerned with the music, the food, and of course, the venue. As for the rest of the planning, that's all me! I have a wonderful group of family, soon-to-be family and friends that are keeping me on track and providing lots of inspiration. I never get tired of suggestions, you just never know when you'll discover something you love.

5. Have you found something helpful for planning or stumbled upon the coolest vendor or website? Share your hidden gem!!

I love all of the wedding shows on TLC like Say Yes to the Dress and Four Weddings. Sipping on a glass of wine while getting lost in wedding bliss is my kind of Friday night. Pinterest is also such a fabulous tool. I have a private wedding inspiration board where my MOH and bridesmaids are constantly sending me ideas.

6. What is the best piece of advice you have received about wedding planning when you got engaged?

The best piece of advice I've received is that you don't need to stick with traditions if you don't want to. A wedding is all about how you and your partner dream it to be. If you want to keep certain traditions, then by all means go for it, but don't stress over sticking with a template. Just have fun and enjoy this special time in your life!

BONUS QUESTION! If you could have one celebrity be your maid of honor who would it be and why?

I would have to say Mindy Kaling. I just LOVE her. I think she's got an awesome sense of style...plus, I could use a little comedic relief when the waterworks start.

A huge thank you to Paige of Gilded Lily Events for providing the perfect bouquet and props to execute the vision of this photo shoot!
